Press Release - Clifton Springs Golf Club Inc. – Saving Our Community’s Water
Clifton Springs Golf Club with the assistance from the Australian Government’s Community Water Grants recently launched its Storm Water Recycling & Storage project, which is set to save up to 3.85 megalitres of potable water annually.
The Club received funds in both Round 2 & 3 of the Community Water Grants for the capture and storage of storm water for use on fairways, tees and greens.
Benefits are twofold and will greatly reduce potable water consumption in our community whilst providing improved playing surfaces for all golfing patrons” said Club President Jerry O’Connor.
The Club is proud to work together with the Australian Government to help improve its water efficiency within the community. The project will save water by installing large rainwater tanks to collect water from the Clubhouse and Proshop roofs, and storm drains for course irrigation. The automated irrigation system will also be upgraded to incorporate latest technology and more efficient greenside sprinklers.
“Community Water Grants encourage better water use and improvements in water quality through practical on-the-ground projects, such as reducing pollutants reaching our waterways, and water recycling and efficiency initiatives” said Mr. O’Connor.
Community Water Grants is part of the $2 billion Australian Government Water Fund for water savings, recycling and treatment projects that demonstrate community involvement and public benefit.
